Understanding Data Residency
Data residency refers to the geographic location where your workspace data is physically stored. This includes:
- •Assessment questions and responses
- •Uploaded evidence files
- •User information and activity logs
- •Templates and configurations
Available Regions
| Region | Location | Code |
|---|---|---|
| US East | Virginia, USA | us-east-1 |
| US West | Oregon, USA | us-west-2 |
| EU Central | Frankfurt, Germany | eu-central-1 |
| UK South | London, UK | uk-south-1 |
| Asia Pacific | Singapore | ap-southeast-1 |
Why It Matters
Data residency is important for:
- •Regulatory compliance — Many regulations require data to stay within specific regions
- •Performance — Data stored closer to users provides faster access
- •Client requirements — Some clients mandate data storage locations in contracts
- •Legal jurisdiction — Determines which laws govern your data
Important Notes
- •Data residency is set during workspace creation and cannot be changed
- •All workspace data resides in the selected region
- •Backups and disaster recovery copies stay within the same region
- •If you need to change regions, you would need to create a new workspace and migrate data
For Enterprise Customers
Enterprise plans may offer:
- •Additional region options
- •Multi-region deployment
- •Custom data residency requirements
- •Dedicated infrastructure options
